Fostering Teenagers

Goodday All,

Long time no see :-)

I was wondering how you ladies feel about fostering teenagers.

We fetching 2 x teenage girls who we've gotten to know on a visitation basis but then their home life seemed to improve but there has been a dramatic change over the weekend and the social worker has decided to place them in our care. There are two other girls in the home that she needs to find a home for.

Fostering really is a rollercoaster ride, but the amount of personal growth that I've experienced so far is phenomenal. I can't wait for 5pm and yet I'm also anxious. We had accepted that they were not going to come to us. I just hope that they don't recent the social worker's decision.

Wow, that is an amazing thing to do. You can really change lives. Personally I think I would find it very hard - teenagers are notoriously difficult but the reality is where would they be without open and loving homes to go to? Fostering really isn't easy because of the constant fear of losing someone you love so much but you are right the personal growth is amazing.

Shoo. I have discussed fostering - a child of any age - with my DH and his point is the same as what Nisey has to say. The fear of becoming attached, only to have to potentially say goodbye. I'd like to do it - I really would - but I usually become so emotionally involved in things, that it could be detrimental to my state of mind .

I think you are doing a really great thing for these two children.
