    Thanks so much everyone

Angie, the POA at the moment is timed Fertomid cycles with IUI (at least I think that's what it is).

Basically, I am using Fertomid CD5 - 9 and then follicle scan on CD12 according to the nurse, doctor will let me know the next step and the timing of the IUI after the scan on Friday. I don't have a FS and am under the gynae (Dr Coleman @ Clinton Clinic in Alberton) at the moment. The whole decision to start treatment etc. happened kind of quickly and I will re-evaluate after a few months and see if I am happy with Dr. or not and if not will then investigate FS.

Only problem is our budget is a little tight and I am concerned about the cost of a FS vs. the gynae. Costs will also play a role in the decision making process. We would have liked to have waited until money was less of a problem but I don't have time on my side and we both really do want to have our own children so we decided to go ahead and start the treatment and see how things go. Are we being irresponsible?

Anyway, that turned into a bit of a ramble, sorry!

Welcome Janine - no need to apologise about rambling - we all find ourselves doing that, and often

Take it as you can manage it, your POA sounds good and you are working within your means, so I think you are sensible girl & want to wish you everything of the best, I pray that you find your BFP very soon

Welcome and good luck! We are all kind of bumbling our way through this, but this forum is an excellent way of getting lots of information. Here's one thing I've learned - FS is a much better option than a gynae. Even though my FS is a gynae, his focus all day every day is on getting us ladies preggers, so he's much more clued up than a gynae would be.

I agree with Mash tbh. I think to go ahead with IUIs without checking the womb is a bit risky. but maybe go ahead with the next cycle and then get a consultation with a FS. thing is you may have uteirne issues that makes implantation or conception unlikely. I was dx with a serious uterine deformnity and only by knowing what is going on can we streamline the process. If i ovulate on my left, having IUIs is silly. If i hadnt found out i would be spending money on something that would be useless. To date i have 'only' spent about R5000 (the lap was pretty much paid for under medical aid) but now i know when i need to try inseminate and how. it would have been more expensive for me to do timed cycles one after the other.......

just another view. and btw, FS are covered under medical aid (only IUI and IVF isnt and thats under both FS or gynaes).....

a 2nd opinion is always a good option............ i spoke with my gynae who recommended Vitalab. my gynae is a specialist on baby delivery and VL is a specialist in conception...........

Thanks for the advise Al and Mash - will consider it very seriously.

Al, awesome that we may be cycle buddies. Going for CD12 scan tomorrow and then, well then I dunno what the next steps are but from reading the forum, I assume some form of injection or other meds before doing the IUI a day or two later...

    Hey cycle buddy

I just had my CD12 scan this morning. Follicule is 18mm so its about time to pop. I am injecting HCG tonight

I am doing a round of IUI tom morning and then sat another one or just intercourse using a douche.....

very exciting. what did your scan say?

I also have to use cyclogest daily. not so thrilling (a supository) but its better than a daily injection i guess.............

    Thanks H

the only negative is that I ovulate on sat and so we not keen to have the IUI then (and its better the 2nd day apparantly)...... its a religious thing and my thinking is that why do something against my religion when i am asking G-d to help????? will wait and see what the doc says tom though..... maybe tom will be enough. not sure how long the spermies will survive though............
