Well done Cam on shifting off the plateau. I think with what we go through a little relaxation is probably better for us even if it does involve a drink than being too highly strung about everything. Stress isn't good, so any way you find to keep it down.

A personal trainer makes a world of difference (in my case, 3 sets instead of 1). A guilt-free xmas sounds like a great motivator to me!

Good for you and another kg down is great! Now there's the inspiration I need to get going again. Keep it up and good luck with the personal trainer

Hi girls
Just wanted to let you all know that I am calling my personal trainer, my personal torturer! Eish, she makes me eina...but...I am loving it. Loving the feeling of being pushed, of stretching my body and working muscles I don't think I have worked since I did gymnastics as a kiddie...
Only thing is...I am supposed to be going for IVF#4 in Feb...but I have read that one shouldn't do weights and hardcore training during stims and after..and I am making progress and already seeing the results - do I carry on with this personal boot camp for a few months more and then do IVF#4 or do I just go ahead and pick up afterwards if it doesn't work out...
I am not sure...don't want to use the fitness excuse cos actually I am scared to do another IVF that doesn't even make it to transfer...but on the other hand I sincerely want to carry on getting stronger and seeing where all this training takes my body...
Hoping the answer will come to me soon...xxx

Cam, while you're stimming (and for a couple of weeks after) you shouldn't lift heavy weights because your ovaries are swollen and you can end up with ovarian torsion. But you should still be able to keep up a slightly modified programme (and legwork etc shouldn't be affected), depending on how you feel, of course, and as long as you stay hydrated. After transfer a lot of people seem to advise a "rest" period, although I wasn't able to find any actual evidence that it makes a difference. There are a couple of studies showing a very slightly higher chance of m/c if you do high impact exercise any time during the first trimester of pregnancy, including the first couple of weeks, but there are also plenty of studies that don't, and there doesn't seem to be any evidence that a hard workout that isn't high impact has any adverse effect.
So there's no real reason why you shouldn't be able to do both![]()
