    Default Little help please

    Morning all,

    I need some info please.

I have read that there is some tests that should be done before starting any treatment, namely:
    STANDARD BLOOD TEST:

    • 17B Oestradiol
    • LH
    • FSH
    • AMH
    • Thyroid
    • Prolactin
    • Insulin

    STANDARD PROCEDURE:

    • HSG – Hysterosalpingogram

My question is, where can I get this tests done? Must I go to my FS, of can I do the blood test at my local GP?

I suppose the HSG must be done by the FS. If so, can they do the blood tests as well.

I had a laparoscopy done last year. Is it possible that they have done a HSG?

I have e-mailed the sisters at CFC, but have not received a response yet.

    Any advice?

I don't know - maybe ask your FS? It will most probably be cheaper to have it done by one single institution.

The FS will give you a list of the bloodtests. FSH has to be done on day 2 of your cycle so you can go to your gp or a lab. HSG is done by FS. It is a x-ray while they inject dye "up" your tubes to check if they are open. No chance of them doing that while doing lap.

    Hi Timmy,
Yes you are right in that you will need these tests done- the nurses/doctor at CFC should be able to order them for you and tell you which days they should be done - FSH (like SOS mentioned above) should be done on CD2 - AMH can be done any day of cycle, Thyroid etc can also be done pretty much any day too - and remember to fast for 12 hours before the insulin test! The HSG is one of those necessary evils, however, the FS may be happy enough that you had the lap done and may not require it.
At least once they have all the blood test results they will be able to work your protocol around your exact requirements!
Wishing you the very best of luck

Just on the HSG test, i have not had one done, nor a lap and on numberous occasions i have asked my FS if necessary. He said there is no medical reason why i need to and therefore do not need it.

He did say usually after 3 failed IVF's that is when they will look into further options.

Thank you SOS and Wanna. Much appreciated.
Wanna, my FS already worked out my protocal without me having those tests done. That was after our IUI was cancelled and I requested a quote for the IVF.
I suppose I must make an appointment for all those test and then ask him all the questions.

I'm just not sure if i have to wait until we are doing the IVF to do the necessary test. Because it will still be a few months before doing the IVF. Or must I do the tests as soon as possible??

    So confused with all this!

    xx

My suggestion is make an appointment at the FS, chat about your situation and what he suggests is the way to move forward, he will or should usually upon your first appoinment send you for all the necessary blood work and tests required.
