    Default Up to what age can i adopt ? What is the cut off for adoption

    Please can you advise I am 40 and wondered what the cut off age for adopting is? Can we adopt even though we have been together for 9 years but not married?
    your help would be much appreciated,

    The stated cut off age for Child Welfare is 48. However they are willing to overlook that if needs be.

    As far as I know you can adopt as unmarried partners. You just have to find the right agency that suits you. They all have different requirements.

    You can state what race, what age, what sex etc. But remember that the more you specify the longer you wait. Also, white children and Indian children are few and far between, you should contact Sharons SW if you want to go that route.

    I was 44 when we adopted. It depends on the agency or SW you use. You can specifiy to a cetrtain extent, as mentioned above. There is a lot of information on this site about adoption.
