Code of Conduct
By participating in this forum, you agree to abide by the following code of conduct:
1. Sensitivity - Fertilicare has established itself as an online 'safehaven' for individuals dealing with the struggles of infertility. By joining this community you agree to subscribe to a motto of sensitivity and support. We will to the best of our ability enforce the upholding of these values. This means that you agree:
- to accept responsibility for what you say on the forum
- that you will not intentionally set out to inflict conflict
- that you will not inflame members by intentionally firing controversial conversation - "Trolling"
- that you will remain mindful of the fact that some members have lived through the trauma of multiple miscarriages and conduct yourself with the necessary sensitivity when discussing these matters. Good practice would be to put a warning in the subject heading of your post i.e. "Warning m/c mentioned"
- that when making use of "pregnancy tickers" in your signature, you will disable your signature when posting outside the Preggos Forum.
- that you will not spread around babydust *
* Babydust - an imaginary substance believed to boost fertility, usually flung around by newbies for lack of better things to say.
2. Defamitory Mentioning of Doctors and Clinics - Please note that defamation and slander are serious civil offences. Please help us preserve the integrity of this support website by not posting defamatory or injurious statements about doctors or their clinics. It is our intention to improve service delivery in the field of infertility and we do not wish to unduly harm any Doctor's practice or reputation, but rather to encourage higher standards of medical and patient care by providing a window into the patient's world. Positive statements and recommendations by actual patients are encouraged. Reports of suspected malpractice may be sent to [email protected], from where it will be addressed to the relevant patient protection bodies and medical boards who will follow the appropriate legal courses of action.
3. Copyright - Please respect the copyright of content sourced from other places on the internet or from books, journals or magazines. Do this by posting a clear reference or link to the source of the content at the end of the quoted text.
4. Advertising and Solicitations - Please don't use our boards to solicit for goods, services, or money, or to advertise or sell products or services to others. Member solicitation in any way or form is strictly disallowed. Service providers are encouraged to contact us and follow the appropriate routes of contact. Advertising can be arranged by contacting us on [email protected].
5. Mentioning other websites - Please don't mention or link to other parenting websites, especially those that also have forums.
6. Surrogate Solicitations - Because of its sensitive nature, we actively discourage surrogate solicitations on the Fertilicare forum. Any members in violation of this rule will be banned and any solicitations by or for surrogates should be reported to [email protected]. Should you require assistance with surrogate arrangements, please contact us and we will refer you to the appropriate agencies.
7. Drug for sale messages - Selling your left-over medication, or any other drug is strictly NOT ALLOWED on this forum. Do not ask for drugs and medications either. Only licensed pharmacies can sell medications. User ids posting these messages will be banned. You should also know that there have been reported cases of people getting medications that were expired, not properly shipped, tampered or not getting any medications after sending money. If you have extra medications, consult with your pharmacy to get a refund or find out about drug donation programs that your clinic may have.
8. Off-site Behaviour - Any behaviour / discussion / mentions outside of the forum (i.e. face to face meetings, blog posts etc) that infringes our code of conduct will be dealt with in the same manner as if the incident happened within the forum, i.e. members will be banned if they breach our rules whether directly on the forum, or indirectly outside of the forum in a way that implicates or involves the forum.
9. Moderator Disputes - Any disputes with the moderators of the board or in regards the code of conduct or the running of of this forum are to be done offline, directly with the moderators of this board. Any efforts to incite dissent or create drama among other members in this regard will be seen as a direct infringement of the code of conduct.
10. Pregnancy - This forum provides for the participation of our graduate infertiles, in other words pregnant members who wish to remain part of this community. Pregnant members must be very sensitive to the feelings and emotions of those who are still TTC. Although Pregnancy tickers are welcome in the Pregnancy and Mamma's Forum's, due to the very sensitive nature of infertility and the pain of those still trying, it will be considered a breach of the code of conduct to not disable your signature in any of the other forums. Members who are not clear how to do this are welcome to contact any of the moderators for assistance in this regard.
Should you notice any infringements on this code of conduct, please notify us at [email protected]
